What cookies uxspot.io uses, and why.

This policy explains the cookies and similar local-storage technologies that uxspot.io uses, what they do, and how you can control them. uxspot.io is a free, static learning site, made and run by one person, Soufiane Chraibi. I do not run advertising, I do not sell data, and I do not use tracking or targeting cookies. uxspot.io itself sets no cookies at all. What the site does keep on your device is the small local-storage items described below, plus an offline copy of pages you have visited, and its analytics are cookieless. The single exception on the whole site is the payment step of the sponsorship checkout, described at the end of this page.

What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to save. Local storage is a similar mechanism that keeps small pieces of data in your browser. Both let a site remember information between visits. Neither can read files on your device or access anything other than the data the site itself has stored.

What the site uses

  • Checklist progress (local storage). When you tick items in the checklists, the site saves that progress in your browser's local storage so it is still there when you come back. This data stays on your device — it is never sent to me or to anyone else.
  • Reading preferences (local storage). If you change the theme, text size, reading font, line spacing, reading width or reduce-motion setting, the site remembers your choices locally so it loads the way you left it.
  • Reading history (local storage). The last curriculum topic you visited, and which topics you have read, so the homepage can offer "continue reading" and the sidebar can show your progress. It never leaves your browser.
  • Spot Check progress (local storage). Your practice-game streak and daily state, so the game remembers how you are doing between visits.
  • Interface notices (local storage). A small flag remembering that you have seen the "new" badge in the navigation, so it stops showing once it has done its job.
  • Offline copy (Cache Storage). So pages load instantly and the site still works with a poor connection or none at all, a service worker keeps a copy of pages and files you have already opened in your browser's cache. It is capped, and each new version of the site replaces the previous copy. If you use "Save Learn UX for offline" in the Display & Reading panel, the curriculum articles are kept the same way until you clear them. All of it is a copy of the site's own public pages — it records nothing about you and is never sent anywhere.
  • Sponsorship booking draft (local storage). If you start booking a sponsorship, your in-progress form — the details you type and the logo you upload — is saved on your device so an accidental close loses nothing. It expires after seven days or when the booking completes. This browser copy reaches me only when you accept the insertion order at the fourth step — at that point the booking is saved to the site's database too, which is described in the Privacy Policy.

One product-adjacent note: the uxspot Figma plugin stores your chosen mode (Hybrid or On ask) inside Figma's own plugin storage, on your device. That happens within Figma, not in your browser on uxspot.io, so it is covered in the Privacy Policy rather than here.

Analytics

I use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to understand in aggregate how the site is used — which pages are read and roughly how many people visit — so I can improve the content. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not track you across sites or build a profile of you. I do not collect information that identifies you personally.

What the site does not use

I do not use advertising cookies, targeting or retargeting cookies, social-media tracking pixels, or Flash cookies. uxspot.io has no accounts and no login, so no cookies are set for any of those purposes.

The one exception: paying for a sponsorship

The payment step of /sponsor/book loads PayPal's payment buttons. PayPal — not uxspot.io — may set cookies there, strictly for processing the payment and preventing fraud, under PayPal's own policies. Those cookies exist only on that page, only when you reach the payment step, and never anywhere else on uxspot.io. If you never book a sponsorship, no cookie is ever set in your browser by this site.

How to control what is stored

You can delete or block local storage through your browser settings at any time, and the same "clear site data" control removes the offline copy described above. Doing so will not break the site, though clearing your browser storage will reset your saved checklist progress and reading preferences, and the site will re-download pages as you visit them. The analytics are cookieless and store nothing on your device, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time as the site changes. When I do, I will revise the "last updated" date shown alongside this page.
