The conversion of design into code, also known as handoff occurs when a design has reached a stage where the developers are to implement the design

Why it matters

Handoff is where design quality goes to be negotiated: everything unspecified becomes a developer’s guess made under deadline. The tighter the specs, tokens and assets, the smaller the gap between the file and the shipped product.
