Why it matters
Type is most of the interface. Before color or imagery say anything, size, weight and spacing have already decided whether a screen reads as calm or chaotic.
The numbers
- 14px — the body-copy floor
- 12px — captions and labels only
- 2 — typefaces per screen is usually the ceiling
