User Experience

User experience is how a person, the user, feels about interacting with or experiencing a product

Why it matters

UX is the umbrella everything else in this glossary stands under: not the screens but the feeling of the whole encounter, from the ad that promised to the support email that apologized. Its scope is the point — a flawless interface cannot save a product that ships late and bills wrong, because users experience the company, not the app. That is also why 'UX' is not a department; it is a result everyone contributes to or damages.
