Primary Research

Primary research is research you conduct yourself. Information from direct interactions with users, like interviews, surveys, or usability studies, are considered primary research.

Why it matters

It is evidence with a chain of custody: you know exactly how it was gathered, from whom, and what was asked — because you did it. Slower and costlier than reading reports, and the only kind that answers questions specific to your product.
