Eye Tracking
A research technique that records where and how long people look on a screen, showing which elements draw attention and which get ignored.
Why it matters
It measures what people actually look at, not what they claim to — and the two disagree constantly. It is how we know about F-patterns, banner blindness, and that faces pull gaze like gravity.
See it
A heatmap over ordinary copy: attention pools top-left and rides the first lines — the F-pattern in the wild.
The numbers
- F-pattern — how people scan text-heavy pages
- Fixations and saccades — the pauses and jumps it records
