Why it matters

Research is the difference between designing from evidence and designing from anecdote — usually the loudest anecdote in the room. The craft splits along two lines worth knowing: what people do versus what they say, and why they struggle versus how many do. Skipping it does not remove the risk; it just moves the discovery of your wrong assumptions from a five-person study to a full launch.
